With funding from the European Community, IPM hosted a one-day consultation, Understanding Microbicide Introduction in Africa and India, in Toronto, Canada, in August 2006. The meeting brought together leading experts in the reproductive health, microbicide and broader HIV/AIDS fields to discuss experiences from the introduction of reproductive health products and factors impacting microbicides in developing countries. The meeting informed the design of studies IPM is commissioning to model the impact of microbicide introduction on communities in select developing countries.
